Derek is a partner practising in the firm's Securities Law group. His practice is focused on corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions in the technology, telecommunications, electronic commerce, broadcasting and resource sectors. His practice has involved private financings (including numerous venture capital financings in which he acted at times on behalf of investee companies and at other times on behalf of Canadian and U.S. venture capital investors), public financings (including initial public offerings and cross border offerings), stock exchange listings, stockholder arrangements, corporate reorganizations and venture capital fund formation. Derek has also been involved in numerous acquisitions and dispositions of businesses, particularly in the technology industry.
