Geoff practises in the area of corporate/commercial and securities law with an emphasis on corporate finance transactions, investment funds and structured products as well as general business law matters. Geoff has experience representing a broad range of public and private companies, investment dealers, investment fund and portfolio managers and advises clients in a diverse range of industries including the asset management, natural resource, technology and new media/entertainment sectors while supporting their capital markets activities and day-to-day business needs. This includes advising on public offerings and private placements (domestic and cross-border), corporate governance, registration and compliance matters as well as dealings with provincial securities commissions, the Toronto Stock Exchange and TSX Venture Exchange.Throughout 2009 to March, 2011, Geoff was seconded to Claymore Investments, Inc., an investment fund manager and exempt market dealer specializing in exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and closed-end funds (CEFs), where he served as general corporate counsel.
Background
Prior to attending Osgoode Hall Law School, Geoff spent several years working in wealth management for one of Canada’s largest financial institutions. During this time Geoff was also the founder and director of an agency specializing in event management and logistical support.While attending law school, Geoff was a Senior Case Worker for the Osgoode Hall Business Clinic, providing basic legal information for clients starting or operating a small business and received the R.J Grey Award for outstanding involvement in extra-curricular activities, Rudolph Bratty Award for Real Estate Law and the Resolution Award in Law Studies.
In 2011, Geoff was a member of the organizational committee for the Power Ball, an annual charitable event in support of the Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery.
Geoff is fluently bilingual in English and French.
