Melissa Smith
Overview
Melissa (she, her) is a lawyer practising in the areas of corporate and commercial and securities law with a focus on technology companies (blockchain, AI, SAAS-based, etc.). She also advises in respect of Canadian privacy compliance. She believes in simplicity and delivers legal solutions on that basis.
Melissa recently received The Osgoode Certificate in Negotiating and Drafting Technology Agreements. Melissa is currently a member of the Association of Corporate Growth’s Next Gen Committee.
She was previously a supervising lawyer with the Osgoode Venture Capital Clinic which provides legal services to startups. In April 2020, Melissa presented on privacy law considerations for startups at the Canadian Fintech Summit hosted by Framework Venture Partners, BDC Capital and MaRS Discovery District.
Melissa is learning to play tennis and advocates for eating pasta a minimum of once a day. She relaxes with yoga, green tea and a book.
