Sam Fata

Sam earned his Juris Doctor from the Faculty of Law at Queen’s University. Prior to law school, he obtained a Bachelor of Commerce (with High Distinction) from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto.

While in law school, Sam was a Teaching Assistant for Business Law and Introduction to Employment Law. In his final two years of law school, he also acted as the President for the Queen’s Tax Law Society.

Alongside his studies at Queen’s, Sam served as a caseworker for the Queen’s Business Law Clinic where he assisted clients on a variety of matters such as employment contracts, shareholder agreements, corporate filings and trademarks. He was also actively involved with Queen’s Legal Aid, advocating for clients at the Landlord and Tenant Board and Small Claims Court.

During law school, Sam was awarded the David Mullan Scholarship and the Queen’s Law Course Prize in Contracts Law.

Outside of law, Sam’s interests include golfing, mixed martial arts and playing guitar.

Krystle Formhals

Krystle received her Juris Doctor from the University of Ottawa, Faculty of Law. Prior to entering law school, Krystle obtained an Honours Bachelor of Commerce (Summa Cum Laude) from McMaster University, Faculty of Commerce, where she specialized in Accounting and Actuarial and Financial Mathematics.

During law school, Krystle was a Dean’s Legal Research and Writing Fellow and a Teaching Assistant for the Principles of Legal Research. She was a Legal Writing Leader for the Writing Academy, as well as a Dispute Resolution Practicum Student who assisted in leading the first year Dispute Resolution and Professional Responsibility course. Krystle was also a mentor to a student enrolled in the Toronto Metropolitan University’s inaugural law program, and a Commercial Law Teaching Assistant at McMaster University.

Krystle was the recipient of the Dentons Prize in Commercial Law, the William J Miller Prize in Competition Law, and the Harry P Beahen, QC Memorial Prize in Insurance Law. Krystle also authored a paper entitled, “A Critical Analysis of Ontario’s Health Care Coverage Decision-Making Process”, which is published with the Health Law in Canada Journal.

In her free time, Krystle enjoys baking, outdoor activities (hiking, biking, and swimming) and language learning.

Marcus Moore

Marcus earned his Juris Doctor from Western University where he completed the Business Law Area of Concentration. Prior to law school, he obtained an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Political Studies from Queen’s University.

While in law school, Marcus worked as a Research Assistant to a professor in the Faculty of Law and served as a Staff Editor for the Western Journal of Legal Studies. Marcus also participated in various advocacy competitions and represented Western Law in the province-wide Winkler Class Action Moot.

During law school, Marcus was an active member in the student community and participated in various volunteer initiatives. He served as a volunteer with Pro Bono Students Canada and volunteered as a Caseworker with a London-area legal clinic. Marcus was also a tutor for several first-year courses at Western Law.

Outside of law, Marcus’ interests include travelling, playing golf and supporting the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Bronwyn Newell

Bronwyn earned her Juris Doctor and Honours Business Administration degree through the combined JD/HBA program at the University of Western Ontario, Faculty of Law and Richard Ivey School of Business.

While in law school, Bronwyn was an Orientation Leader and the VP of Communications for the Western Legal Innovation Association. She was also a member of Pro Bono Students Canada, where she assisted Legal Line in providing free and accessible legal answers to Canadians.

During her time at Ivey, Bronwyn competed in several case competitions, placing first in the BCG Kickoff Competition. She was also a player and coach on various flag football teams throughout her time at Western.

Outside of law, Bronwyn’s interests include trying new restaurants, playing sports and travelling.

Ana earned her Juris Doctor from Osgoode Hall Law School. Prior to law school, she obtained an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Global Studies (with Distinction) from Wilfrid Laurier University, Faculty of Arts.

During law school, Ana was involved in numerous activities. She volunteered with Pro Bono Students Canada (Osgoode Chapter) and served as an executive member of the 2021 Orientation Week committee. She also participated in the Lerners Cup Moot and was a member of the Osgoode Real Estate and Infrastructure Student Association and the Osgoode Business Law Society.

Outside of law, Ana’s interests include making pizza, snowboarding and playing with her dog.

Sofia Sugumar

Sofia earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Toronto, Faculty of Law. Prior to law school, she obtained an Honours Bachelor of Science in Psychology, Neuroscience and Behaviour from McMaster University.

During law school, Sofia developed an interest in technology and privacy. She worked as a summer research assistant for the Schwartz Reisman Institute for Technology and Society. Sofia later ran the University of Toronto’s legal hackathon; an event where interdisciplinary teams of law, engineering and computer science students create the beginnings of a legal technology start-up.

While earning her law degree, Sofia participated in various advocacy competitions. She was a semi-finalist in the BLG Client Consultation Competition, a representative for the University of Toronto in the Adam F. Fanaki Competition Law moot, and the recipient of the Best Coach award when she coached the University of Toronto’s competition law moot team the following year. Sofia also acted as an organizer for advocacy competitions. She was a Bench Clerk that helped draft the problem for the school’s yearly performative moot, and was a member of the Moot Court Committee, the student committee responsible for selecting students admitted into the University of Toronto’s competitive mooting program.

Outside of law school, Sofia’s interests include yoga, hiking, and rating Toronto’s local cafes.

Himani Trivedi

Himani is a graduate of the dual degree program in business and law (JD/HBA) at Western University. She obtained her Juris Doctor from Western University, Faculty of Law, in conjunction with an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration (Dean’s List) from the Ivey Business School.

During her time at law school, Himani co-founded Western Law’s first online newspaper, advocated for her class as Vice-President Administration of the Student Legal Society and was a Writer for the student blog, Law School Life & Beyond. She was one of four finalists in the First Year Advocacy Competition and worked as a Research Assistant on topics related to corporate governance and regulatory decision making in the U.S.

Himani has trained in Indian classical vocals and has performed on stage at various events. In her free time, she enjoys folk dancing, nature photography, and building her YouTube channel.
